Calisthenics is a uniquely Australian artistic sport that blends dance, gymnastics, singing, acting, ballet, marching and apparatus technique. Students learn choreographed routines to music while developing:
Coordination
Strength & flexibility
Balance & posture
Fitness & musicality
Stage presence & performance skills
Teamwork, discipline & resilience
The word “Calisthenics” comes from the Greek words kallos (beauty) and thenos (strength).
Some clubs are purely recreational, while others like ours offer both recreational and competitive programs.
Calisthenics builds both a healthy body and a healthy mind, creating confident performers and lifelong friendships.
1. What is Calisthenics?
2. What is the difference between a competitive team and a recreational team?
Competitive teams train throughout the year and perform at multiple competitions during the season.
Recreational teams attend weekly classes and perform only in our annual end-of-year concert.
3. Can I choose for my student to join a competitive or recreational team?
Yes. Families can choose the pathway that best suits their child, depending on age and commitment level.
If you're unsure, our coaches are happy to help guide you.
4. How often are competitions? Do we need to attend all of them?
Competitions run between July and October.
Our club usually enters 3 to 5 competitions each year.
If your child is part of a competitive team, they must be available to attend all competitions and all class rehearsals.
